Eyes:
Ah, the eyes. One of the most important assets of a person. Luckily, Eli’s eyes leave a lasting impression. Winning a staring or glaring contest against this boy is nearly impossible. His blue grey eyes peer deeper than is comfortable for most, thus making it awkward for many. When passionate about a certain subject, his eyes seem to blaze, growing with intensity and zeal. Surrounding his eyes however, his eyelashes are close to non-existent because of their light colour along with his eyebrows.
Physical Structure:
Being tall is a big advantage when walking through crowds of protestors, though his lanky form is sometimes bothersome for Eli. He’s fairly thin, though not overly skinny, and has muscles. To put it simply he has a thin athletic frame, thanks to his long hours on the beach with his trusty board.
Hair:
Hair has never been much of a concern to Eli. It was always just a mop of dead cells on his head. Quite a nice colour of dead cells though. His auburn coloured hair falls down to his ears, though it doesn’t completely cover them and strands seem to stick out in which ever direction they find fit. A; though many girls have commented on the hair in many wonderful ways, Eli’s mother will always say that to her it looks more like an animal crawled onto his head and died.
Clothing:
Usually seen in black shirts, sometimes with little slogans or quotes he enjoys. His jeans are well used with faded areas and small rips, fitting him nicely.
Markings:*
Eli has a lovely tongue ring.
Exterior Persona:
So what is it that Eli lets everyone see? Why, a bad boy image of course. Cocky, confident, and slightly selfish is what any outsider would see. He can seem cold at times, and sarcastic when need be. He’s a rebel inside and out and voices his opinions quite loudly. He enjoys contradicting others, and arguing, even getting into fights.Eli is also the type of person whose emotions are slightly harder to keep in check. Yes, he can keep his loving, caring, soft side hidden, but his temper runs wild. Although he may seem mean he smiles quite often, a smile that usually leaves people shocked. He’s quite exceptional at scowling and can be found doing just that during class at least twice to his oh so intelligent teachers. In a way, you can say that Eli is somewhat bipolar.
Being from England, many see or should I say hear his background. He has an english accent, though not as thick as it was when he was younger. When upset however, his accent does thicken.

Inside-Out
Inner Persona:
And here is the man we rarely get to see. The true Eli. The guy that gets shown only to a few people, those that he lets in close enough. Although he’s confident and even arrogant on the outside, inside, he’s endlessly doubting himself, wondering if his choices or words were right. Sure, he seems like he’s perfectly fine by himself, but loneliness eats away at everyone. In truth, he’s scared; afraid of being let down, being put out and tossed to the side. Of getting hurt in a way that takes much longer to heal. The show he puts on is a sort of barrier for himself in a way.

Background.
History:
Elijah Burnham never had any siblings. It seemed that one child was more than enough for Fredrick and Lydia. What with how their first child turned out they really didn’t want to risk the possibilities with more children.
From a young age Eli didn’t get along with his parents. They felt estranged to one another, his parents always working, Eli left behind at grandparents Burnham’s house. His mother never felt the need to be closer than need be to her son, and eh feeling was the same with his father.
For twelve years Eli and his parents lived in England, the young boy occupying himself with old videos his grandparents had. Many were filled with what seemed to be rallies, wars, and other such lovely things that happened in their time. He became almost immediate enthralled in the issues of the world, reading the newspaper and paying close attention to eth news. Whenever young Eli brought up such issues or questions with his parents they brushed him away and seemed annoyed, sending him to stand in eth corner for being bothersome.
Living so closely to the shore drew Eli to the waves to where other young men road boards. That also caught his interest and so started his second hobby, one he was almost as passionate about as he was with his other obsession.
Finally came his twelfth year of existence and his family moved from their home in England to a much different one in Ohio. The problems with his parents only seemed to increase from there. Eli no longer regarded his parents as parents but more as acquaintances. The war in Iraq became quick news around the young teen and by the time he was thirteen he was joining protests with others, holding signs and chanting.
More issues were brought to his attention, and the fact that no one else seemed to care angered him. His involvement in protesting grew over the years, soon becoming more and more radical, getting Eli into quite a bit of trouble. His parents dutifully bailed him out but never once looked him in the eye and tried everything they could think of to stop his behavior. This reaction from his ‘parents’ only made Eli want to do more, to really help change the world.
After a squabble with police officers and being put into a juvenile delinquent institution for a couple days his parents finally became fed up with him and decided to rid themselves of the source of their stress. The Burnham’s never had much, and Eli’s behavior was putting a strain on their budget. So the decision was made and a few months after his fifteenth birthday Elijah was sent to live with grandmother Pearce.
This is where we are today. In a small stuffy room with enough posters to cover up the dingy walls, a small old cd player sitting on some books, the Beetles making their way through eth speakers with a fifteen year old boy attempts to find suitable clothes to wear to the school he’s been attending for the past two months or so.
Life with granny is better than he would have hough though. Eloise supports him in all his decisions and is proud to have her grandson fighting for what he believes in. His surfing continues of course. He managed to find himself a part time job to cover his expenses, knowing that Eloise has trouble supporting herself without her husband around. This is one of eth few people that Eli can truly be himself around. He looks after Eloise, helping her where he’s needed and being a crutch for the woman as she continues to grieve for the loss of her husband.
